Many local dental practices refer their patients to Stowe Family Dentistry for orthodontic care - all patients are welcome. An initial consultation is offered at no charge.

Adult Care

In adulthood, dental health involves more than just clean teeth. At Stowe Family Dentistry we focus on healthy teeth as well as healthy gums and the bone surrounding our teeth: each patient is evaluated for their periodontal health at every hygiene visit.

We treat each patient based on his or her individual needs. X-rays are taken annually or bi-annually depending on the need or medical history of the patient. Similarly, hygiene visits are scheduled at an interval appropriate to the particular patient and their dental health.

First Visits

Stowe Family Dentistry's New Client Evaluation

The first visit for a new adult patient involves a comprehensive oral health evaluation. The emphasis of this appointment is the determination of future dental needs, the creation of a treatment plan when indicated, and an assessment of the patient's periodontal health. Past dental history, expectations, and desired dental outcomes are all reviewed. Digital X-rays are taken, plaque samples are gathered, and an oral cancer-screening exam is completed as well as a thorough examination of the entire dentition and the oral cavity. We use an intra-oral camera during each new client exam - thereby offering a unique "tour" of the mouth. From these various diagnostic modalities a treatment plan is formulated and hygiene appointments are scheduled

Elder Care

Older patients often have specific dental care needs. At Stowe Family Dentistry our office is wheelchair accessible and we offer personalized care to both the elderly and special needs patients.

We are very familiar with common dental problems facing the elderly population, including dry mouth (which is caused by many medications), as well as other dental issues, which may be related to systemic conditions. We also help elderly patients with an assortment of products, which can help to make dental care easier when facing physical limitations.

Our Technology

State-of-the-Art Dental Equipment & Technology

Staying ahead of the field in terms of technology and equipment is an important part of what we are about at Stowe Family Dentistry. We use state-of-the-art dental equipment and techniques that enable us to be more proactive with treatment, offer less invasive procedures when available, and, at times, offer more comfortable treatment options.

At Stowe Family Dentistry we offer:

  • CEREC (same-day crowns) - this technology allows us to fabricate and deliver all-ceramic, tooth-colored crowns in just one visit. The crowns are incredibly life-like and eliminate the need for the two visits needed for traditional crowns.
  • Digital X-rays - our X-ray technology reduces radiation exposure by 60-90%, produces instant images, and provides better diagnostic results.
  • Intra-oral cameras - this technology permits our patients to see what their mouth and teeth look like magnified. It is an excellent educational tool for all patients and the enlarged images augment our diagnostic accuracy.
  • Phase microscopy - a phase microscope gives us a full understanding of the bacteria in a patient's mouth. With this information we can better determine a patient's risk for dental decay and/or periodontal disease. Early detection leads to prevention and early intervention.
  • Air abrasion - essentially a micro-sand blaster for teeth, air abrasion allows us to repair small cavities without local anesthesia (no numbing!). This is a great technique for children and adults alike.
  • CO2 Laser - the laser is used for various soft tissue surgeries, such as gum surgery. The use of the laser ensures little discomfort and very rapid healing.
  • Steri-Center - this is a room entirely dedicated to the sterilization of all the instruments that we use. We also have a full-time staff member in charge of sterilization techniques.
